Modern flat open pedals.

Hi All

Just popped over from the old clunky section of the forum to ask a question.

What would be a good set of modern open / flat pedals. I need pair for my new touring bike build. Note that they must be light (ish).

Please post links if you can.

Depends on your shoes.
If you are wearing flat soled trainers like Vans or the best for cycling, FiveTens, then pinned pedals are best. Shimano Saint are good but not that light. Nukeproof Electron are lighter.

If you prefer hiking boot style soles then a bear trap style is better.
I don't have any personal recommendations as I wear FiveTens nearly all the time but something like these.

I mainly use dmr v8s not light but bombproof with lots of grip.

All of the above pedals cost more than I paid for 80% of my bike collection.

I use a Shimano MT91 boot. I'm very much liking the Echo TR Caged pedals. They certainly look the part and I'm only 12 stone 8. They will be going on my new 1994 Kona Kilauea 'Everyday' bike. It'll be used for light trail riding and a spot of touring along the Trans Pennine Trail or similar. They should be more than good enough I think. I want to get rid of my heavy Shimano SPD pedals and replace them with something a little lighter and more befitting my riding style. I'm 46 now and don't do any of that downhill tomfoolery.
