Missing Balls! M730 XT headset bearing help needed!

If you've got the headset in front of you, there's no reason not to measure the balls you have. If you haven't got a Vernier caliper (and every cyclist should have one) place four balls together in a suitable groove and measure with a good steel rule.

BikePro is usually pretty trustworthy: their "5.5mm" balls equate to 7/32" . That's a fairly unusual size, but not unheard of. 5/32" balls are 4mm, near as damn it.

That was me! 1/4" balls for an XT M730 headset

one-eyed_jim
that's the size
7/32" 22off is the ball bearing size for M737. ( HP-M737 )

for search reference
1/4" is for HP-M736
1/4" is for HP-M735
16off for both ?

Document will go up shortly.

HP-M900 / HP-M901 / HP-M902 use 3/16" (20, 22, 24 off respectively)
