Microshift thumbies

the 10 speed work nice. if a bit expensive from sjs cycles. oh and not heavy. well made too

Re:

I’ve used the Microshift barend (thumby with a different mount) Alfine shifter and it was awful so I’d never touch any of their stuff again. It came on a Genesis Day One and I quickly changed it to a proper Shimano shifter despite having to change to flat bars to do so.

The indexing was out which with an Alfine isn’t just clicking gears, it means the hub will randomly jump
out of gear leaving you with no drive (not fun when you’re pulling out into/across traffic) and potentially wrecking the hub innards.

I’ve heard the derailleur shifters are better but my experience was enough to put me off the brand forever.

Re:

Had them on the fat bike and they worked great. A bit heavier feel than XT 7 speed but not too bad. Brilliant to be able to trim the front mech just so, to avoid any rubbing.
Really expensive though for what they are. Upside is they still go for good money if you want to sell them later.
