Microshift -- any good?

I had high hopes for Advent with a 1x9 offering with a clutch. So far I haven't tried that groupset yet (and I don't believe the cable pull ratio is Shimano or SRAM compatible btw) but I have got hands on with Advent X 10 speed (also not compatible with Shimano or SRAM shifters, although all 10 speed chains and cassettes are interchangeable) and was somewhat disappointed in the shifting. I've had a few customers (not normally the most discerning types) complain of garbage shifting from the groupset even when everything was set fine in the workshop, and from a few test laps of the shop, my feeling is it's not a very crisp shifting a groupset.

Bottom of the range (mezzo?) 8 speed shifter, all of £4 from decathlon a couple of years back as a stop gap, coupled to xt 739 rear mech here. Best shifting I've got out of that mech, ever. Not coming off til it snaps!
