Merlin Titanium - £300 - Burnley

Great deal this, that steam alone is spendy and if frame is in good condition you are in for a winner. Do show what you've got

I’ll try to get some photos uploaded tomorrow, I’ve fully dismantled it this evening to check condition and see what we have. The seller is 87 years old and still riding daily. He has recently bought an ebike so this sale has helped to fund it.

He purchased it in the 90s from someone involved with mountain biking in the UK apparently, which would explain some of the component choices.

He passed on the original parts too, including a set of Cook Bros cranks and an early salsa road stem. Other parts highlights include Royce ti bottom bracket, early red label flite, Mavic headset, American classic cages, early hope hubs etc.

Not sure what my plans are yet as it’s much too small for me to ride. For now I’ll get it polished and the correct decals installed.

Thanks 👍🏻 As per my previous post, this is far too small for me and was purchased to split and flip allowing me to keep the parts I need and fund my retro habit. I consulted with the Zunow owners club who advised on the value.

The proceeds will be split with the seller, as I often do with these badly listed Facebook bargains. Would you prefer I sold it below market value Dave?

Thanks.

Yes a massive mark up, and an overly optimistic one too. It will never achieve it and if it gets 50% of asking, I'll be surprised, because a) it is not Osaka Zunow built, no usual panto present etc. and b) market is really down at the moment.
My 2p worth...but do remember..... I was a Zunow bike owner once 😉

Thanks for your input, the price is based on the opinions of the Zunow owners club, and the last eBay sale of one of these frames, which was £1557. If it doesn’t sell, that’s fine, but the Zunow owners club disagrees with you.

If you have a problem with the price I am asking, why not say it privately and without malice, instead of trying to publicly ruin the business of others? I am open to offers, but I shall not be forced to sell cheaply because of your opinion. This forum and hobby is brought down by people who cannot stand to see others do well.

Thanks for your opinion, time will tell what it sells for, not you.

Apologies, did not meant to offend, just giving my opinion.

Need to remember that Zunow owners FB page is mainly US/Far east folk, where the mark is much more appreciated and valuable. It is also a very small group of enthusiasts, so the net you are throwing is small indeed.

Re above eBay price form a well know seller in NL with contacts all over the world, plus near NOS, original forks AND timing. Not to mention there is no evidence it really sold for such price.

If I may add - the forum is an open source of information and members are free in expressing their views, in fact it is a daily fun reading some comments about bikes selling via eBay. I don't personally mind if someone points out the over optimistic pricing on my For Sale items too, but than again I'm not you, so I'll say sorry again.

For your info - I sold a lovely (and very very rare to be found in large size) Zunow frameset for £400 last year, pic below.

At the end it is a market that will decide on the price you'll achieve. If 50% of asking, you'd still make a very very handsome profit, I'd not call that 'selling cheaply'. GLWS
