Hi all, I have had this on FB for a while but despite plenty of interest it never sold so I thought I would try on here for a few days then look at maybe splitting it for parts so please do say if there is anything that interests you
This is something I built up for a friend during lockdown and he used it for a handful of rides with kids, less than 100 miles use and set up for hybrid/forest tracks with the Michelin county rock tyres. It's a combination of retro and NOS parts
I am gradually whittling down my 15 bikes to a more manageable 6, or 7, maybe 8 lol.
Merlin Malt1 aluminium frame with Kona project 2 suspension adjusted double butted forks.
Mavic X717 handbuilt wheelset with SS spokes and Deore hubs.
Shimano XT front and rear mech.
LX shifters, 27 speed.
The project 2s were NOS when fitted and are in perfect condition.
The Mavic x717/Deore wheelset was professionally handbuilt for me several years back but barely used as I had other MTBs.
The crank is a shimano 'trekking' model and was also virtually new along with the Shimano Deore cartridge BB.
I think the rear cassette was also new.
Braking is by XT levers and tektro v brakes.
Saddle is a specialized Sonoma 155 but I can probably find something else if needed.
Pedals are polycarbonate NC17's
Zoom bars on a specialized stem with x-lite bar ends and squishy Richey grips.
I had the frame professionally bead blasted before I built it (the previous lacquer finish had yellowed) and it has picked up a few rub marks since but no damage. I could easily be refinished (I used a local guy) or is a great base for a paintjob or polishing.
