Here was my "quick lets get some parts on and see what it will look like" photo a couple of hours after receiving the excellent bare frame from kermisking .


The handlebars and stem with Sora 8 speed shiifters were thrown on just to see the overall look but most parts will be staying. I also have the Campag aero seatpost that came with my original KoM and haven't decided the seat yet. But yesterday I picked up a bike that has a rather nice Miche seatpost and I am wondering what people here think.

Let's face it the Miche looks wrong.
If Holes in a seatpost were a good idea, we'd all be doing it

Next question.

The frame came with a Mercian stem, so naturally it would seem to make sense to use it but it is black. Now I know black makes sense when the sun is just in the wrong place and reflects off your brightly polished stem but how much sun do we see in this country (answer 50 mins so far this month!) It is an ITM stem I I happen to have an ITM black handlebar in my parts bin so perhaps it is fate. Here they are together, its either that or the 3T/Cinelli route.


Then the old perennial...downtube shifters for the looks or brifters for the convenience? I have these 105s.

105 STI, edit, not as elegant as DT levers. Ergonomically nicer for me though

You'll ride the bike more with the stis.
And it looks better to me because it works better.
needs a shorter stem and forward bar throw compared to dt levers though

Black finish in 94 was radical.
Unfortunately now it's dull dull dull.
It's been Specialized to death.
