Mercian '77 Anniversary Barbers Pole F+F & Extras

Fahrgestell

Retro Newbie
Bought this on a whim during the summer, purely because it is a real English beauty.

I've finally come clean and acknowledged it is too small for me - I'm a 58 rider all day.

Size: TT C2C = 56
ST C2T = 56

Good Points:

This is a totally stunning frame for its age, I believe it is an anniversary edition from 1977. White with beautiful Barbers Pole detail to the seat tube lined in gold with period "Gothic style" Mercian type face on the down tube lined in Gold.

Lugs are exquisite on the fork crown, all with a red lining to match the head tube and Barbers Pole.

The 531 fork includes eyelets for mudguards (included) as does the rear stays.

Whats included?

- Record BB (done approx 250 miles bought NOS)
- Chrous Headset
- Nitto Pearl 11 Stem
- Nitto Randonneur Bars + Red Nitto Bar end plugs
- Tetro Long Drop brakes R556 (Front and Rear)
- Hammered TF Imports mudguards (to take up to 28c I believe)
- MAVIC MA40 Rims to Campag Athena hubs inc. tyres and tubes.

Wheels sold separately.

The BB spins like butter and the headset much the same, both were professionally fitted.

Bad Points:

- The Seat collar needs attention.

I think to remedy this could cut further down the seat collar (there is hardly any slit) to give the ears more of a clamp to tighten more to the seat post.

Alternatively you could use a shim.

Seatpost dia. is 27.2mm

Please note this is sold without a seat bolt.

Don't expect a concours frame, this is over 30 years old. There are paint chips, scruff and a bit of rust (top of seat-tube) so please look at the pictures in detail as this forms most of the description of the frame.

£400 for everything listed and pictured.
