McMahon MRC Ti - Rear upper U-Brake Titanium... yummy!

Re:

The brakes work well when adjusted with patience. The 2mm hex screws for mounting the brake cable are somewhat of a pain to reach, for example. Shimano U brakes work better with much less effort.
If you want to build a bike to ride, I would not recommend to lust for the mrc forks. These are flexy and after the years the glue wont hold the fork legs in place. Same with the original stem: these flex a whole lot.
The frame itself is more on the durable side and good for hard use. With its flatter angles it has a great responsivness and directional stability. Those with wishbone seat stays seem to be rare.

Thanks! Now I have to decide... Do I want to build up this beauty knowing that it is too small for me... I normally ride 19.5 with front suspension and 20-21 rigid... This is an 18...

I keep finding small Ti frames...drat

Re:

Very nice find indeed.

I've got one, I did have two for a while.

They all seem to be different as well. Mine has a wishbone stay, threaded bb but different dropouts to yours. The one I sold was fastback stays and cut out drop outs. Custom builder I guess.

The forks. I agree as above. Stay well clear, despite having a pair with the most beautiful ti sliders I still wouldn't ride on them.

The stem. I never knew that, but I sold mine anyway.

The brakes. The McMahon scissor brakes do look super cool and I've so far managed to avoid setting them up. One day. One day.

The y did one for the front called a D Cell I think it was, they look cool too. Their cranks are nice too, sometimes they turn up.

Have fun!

Thanks for all the comments!

I just did a bike count and on top of my 10 rocky mountains I have 5 Ti frames... none of which are Rocky mountain...

I think it's time to thin things out... especially if they don't even fit me...

So, I will sadly have to sell this frame, also going will be my Nukeproof Ti frame and Wheeler Ti frame...

any input on pricing would help, otherwise I'll just take a guess and pop all three in the for sale thread...

thanks!

Hi,
Don't sell it... One of my favorite rides... Mine also has those machined dropouts.
A switchblades and a steel stem will work much better than McMahon parts...
I must say that I also thought it was not my size when I bought it (I ride 19/20"), but this is a visual effect due to a short headtube. The ett is a bit over 23"...
A stem with "a bit" of rise should help.

Best,
Chus

Thanks! Yours does look sweet!

I have one person interested =)

Just waiting for them to take some measurements

What is the name of that rear brake? How would I search for it on eBay?

Thx!

Re:

It's a McMahon Scissor Brake :)

Yours should be an later example. The sticker on the wishbone is the new design to the best of my knowledge.
The older ones had press fit bbs, yours seem to fit screwed bb cups.

My mothers bike is approx. 1991:

That's stunning

Which came first, this fork or the 4 piece switchblade style version?
