MBK Treker

Ballyc

Retro Newbie
I took my 1990 MBK Treker to my local bike shop to get the gear cassette removed as the teeth were worn. He said he never say anything like it and I would need to get a new wheel and cassette. Anyone got a picture of the tool I need ?
Thanks.

I guess this is a uniglide 6 speed cassette. If so, you need 2 chain whips. One to keep the freewheel from moving, the other one to remove the smallest cog counter clockwise. Others may confirm. I would clean the cogs to see how worn the really are. It's possible to flip them over if they are not too worn. Replacements are hard to find, maybe you are lucky to find some on here.

I'll second that - looks like a Uniglide to me. They can be a bit stubborn to remove but all it takes is a couple of chain whips.

They actually wear quite well. I put one on my Trekker with unknown mileage and it worked nicely with a new chain and 1000 miles later it's still going strong. There is always the option to flip the cogs too so you can wear the opposite side.
