MB dronfield 53cm

Hi all,

got this rather cool MB Dronfield racer. Looks to be 1980s and and possibly a few parts changed on it.

Frame itself is in solid condition, does have a few rust spots and scratches but absolutely no dents or cracks. Seatpost, BB and headset all move freely. Tubing is tange 900 which is surprisingly light.

This bike does need a bit of work but once it's done it will ride fantastic.

Sizing is 55cm top-tube (centre to centre)
53cm seat-tube (centre of BB to top)

Selle saddle, fluted post
S.R cockpit
Suntour edge rear mech
sachs front mech
exage chainset (rings aren't straight)
rear wheel is mavic hub on wolber rim (1 broken spoke, wheel needs truing)
front wheel is a modern alex something or other wheel, runs straight.
gears index well.

Looking for £105 posted for this please

Re:

just out of interest, this wouldn't have been handbuilt by Vernon. it was one of their bought in budget frames reprayed and finished at M&B.

you can always tell which frames weren't handbuilt in the shop by the headtube type transfer on the seat tube. If it was custom built in the shop, it had a proper DT transfer. Plus Vernon only built in 531 or culumbus SL and better, no cheaper tange stuff.

I didnt want to spoil your sale on here, but now as its withdrawn to go on schmeebay, i thought it ok to say something

Hi,

thanks for you input, always nice to gain a little knowledge.

In all honesty I wasn't selling it as built by x person I'm just selling it as a nice classic steel racer in need of a little bit of work. The temptation to strip this baby down and re-build it is almost getting the better of me.. New tan-walls, setup nicely and some new bartape and it'd be finished. We shall see...

DO IT!

Also, thanks Pigman for the information. Never did think mine was Reynolds tubing, or handbuilt by Barker/Middlemiss, especially after Vernon himself described it as 'off the peg'. Nevertheless, they are surprisingly light frames and can take an absolute hammering.

I hereby encourage a rebuild!

Hi there quick question how tall are you and did you ride the bike?
I am a short 5'6" and am looking for a bike.
