Mavic Wheels

Hi all,

saw some mavic wheels on fleabay the other week, and thought I'd be in with a good chance of getting them, wheels were in Newcastle so I could pick up and save on the postage, my thinking was my bid of £31 would win as no one would pay £47 inc the postage, wrong again, clearly I have no idea about the value of such items.
Is up to £50 an expected price for some wheels ?, could do with some pointers on value for future biddings.

ps : I dont need new wheels but i thought they'd be a good upgrade and worth a punt

the joy of ebay. check out the for sale section here, chap had some nice wheels for £40 earlier....

ebay can be a bit erratic, i paid a fiver for ringle hub on mavic en321 with dt spokes tother day.

Still a cheap set of wheels at under £50 posted with Mavic rims. Some obviously go for more then others but if they have Mavic written on them you'll be lucky to get them much cheaper. ;)

Cheers for replies, at least I have a rough idea of worth, wish I'd asked while auction was live, pushing it over the £50 marker with postage might just have put the other bidder off.
And getting a pair for a fiver is pure robbery, you'll need some Horlicks to sleep i think ;)

i gave £40 for a pair of mavic rimmed dmr hubbed wheels, came with a pair of part worn panaracer xc pro's and a virtually new cassette too.

i was after another set of half decent wheels for a different project and have struggled to find anything close in quality to them for less than £60 plus post.

to get a good bargain on ebay, you need to work on the philosophy that if you throw enough darts at the board, one of them will stick in the bull!

I tried that a while back, I ended up with 3 different winter jackets. Including one that I had put a bid on when I was drunk and couldn't remember

Mind you the total outlay was less than £20 and one of them was a Schott for 99p.

or my mate who landed a £200 harlika shooting jacket for £6.50 because the old dear in the charity shop didn't realise what she had! early retirement and a penchant for bargains means the little git finds all sorts of stuff! luckily he doesn't use ebay otherwise he'd need a storage unit for all the extra crap he'd buy!
