Mavic Road stuff

John,

Please benefit from my experience...Zap will leave you frustrated and heartbroken.

Throw on some vintage Mavic downtube levers (sculpted oh so nicely) and rear mech and enjoy riding, not adjusting and cursing :?

keep it groovy,

rody

Rody,

I've never ridden zap, only set up mektronic. However I guess it's reputation preceeds it. Scored a retro road frame (will post pics later) and need some nice bits to hang off it. Was thinking going the mavic route since i've already a nice 631 chainset. However it's going to be a rider and I'm not sure if can go back to d/t shifting..hence ending up with the zap idea. Might go for mostly mavic then use campy or shimano stis and rear mech. Whaddya reckon?

I faced the same ordeal...wanted Mavic like my first race setup but couldn't stomach the downtube shifters for daily riding. I ended up comprimising with Record carbon ergos, fit me better than the shimano's and matched the flow/look of the rest of the components better than the bulbous shimano levers. The campy levers work perfectly with the Mavic SSC rear mech and sachs f/w.

Really looking forward to seeing the Eddy all flushed out with the Mavic, should be tight :D

cheers,

rody

Rody,

was SSC the latter road kit? Details on Mavic kit is sketchy. I reckon a Campy / Mavic full Euro build would work.

Which hubs and block did you go for? What spacing were they? Assume you went for an 8 speed setup.

Looking forward to getting Eddy out in the roads :D

Im definatley looking for ZAP stuff if anybody can help me, but i just need the control cartridge, as i broke mine like a goon.

Message me if you can help, maybe i can help your wallet.

Mavic front mech

Got a mavic front mech, 28.6 band on, comes to bits with allen keys and circlips.

Also a mavic BB, square taper, hollow axle

Any use?

Maybe in a few days....

Just let me try and fix the rear mech before i get too excited about the rest of the gruppo.

Cheers dude.
