Mavic Open 4 CD's on Campagnolo Veloce Hubs - Very Good

Hi guys,

An Easter bargain here! I've got my best Mavic Open 4 CD's for sale laced to Campagnolo Veloce hubs with correct skewers (both excellent) and 7 speed (14-24) Sachs Maillard freehub.

As you can see the wheels are in very good condition, with the anodised braking service showing little wear (extremely good on one side - single pivot calipers for you!)

I had both wheels trued last year as well as the cones and bearings replaced in the rear by Colchester cycles, at a cost of more than what I'm asking for the wheels. Both wheels are still near as dammit true and spin extremely well.

That being said these wheels are around 30 years old so there's a couple of things to note, both rims have the original Michelin rim tape but this has been removed and refitted on both wheels now and does have some signs of wear so ideally will need replacing soon. There is also a slight tinkle from the front wheel when spinning it in your hands, this sounds like it is coming from the rim hence the rim tape was removed to check, but all is in order and all spokes appear tight. This is probably something very simple and doesn't seem to affect the wheel in any way.

In short this is a great wheelset which is perfectly usable as is and in very good order.

Ideally I'd like these collected to avoid any risk of damage, I'm based in Colchester, Essex.

After £70!

Cheers,

Good price :) The "Freehub" in the text might be confusing people, It's usually called a Freewheel or in older terms a Block..

Hi James, i don't believe so, these take a screw on freehub, pretty sure all 8 speeds are cassettes.

Thanks for confirming. That's a shame as I have some 8 spd Ergos waiting for some appropriate wheels.

I might consider selling these

http://apro.bikemag.hu/browse/orszaguti ... 23795.html

with a new miche 8spd cassette included as well (though that cost me 21pounds, so would pump a bit on the price)

But I would not hesitate buying these wheels! 7spd spaced the same as campag 8spd, and you can buy 8spd sunrace screw-on blocks which are also spaced 5mm, if the hub can accomodate them.

Re:

Hi there, I'd love to buy these but I cannot get to Colchester to collect them. I am in Brighton. Would you be prepared to send them?

I go to London fairly regularly, and on the off chance you commute there from Colchester, I could pick up from London too.

What do you think?
Cheers!
Mark
