Pic one is on carpet pic 2 is on hardwood flooring... what do I win?

I would assume same rims, one with updated decals. I would say the one without the stylized M is the newer of the two. Looks a bit more modern.

I agree that they are the same, Mavic tweak the decals slightly every year. I believe the stylized "M" is the older of the two.

Although would the one with 'hard anodised treatment 650 V'
be before the one with 'hard anodised treatment 650 W'.

Just a guess though.

PSP means that profile has a 3 degree angle for better fit of the braking shoes.
