No, Trek only buys companies they can steal from and then kill... Mavic haven't really brought anything to the table recently and have already folded

It's a real shame though, I almost feel guilty for spending £350 on those 1300g Chinese 50mm carbon clinchers that have just been blindingly good wheels.

Quite right, just look how Trek have turned Bontrager into their moniker for their own brand products.

Pretty sure Mavic will be ok. This is just the French governments way of protecting the company until the paperwork is unravelled. Will hopefully protect them from what happened to Evans being lumped with “debts” that weren’t theirs, to let the parent company off free and clear.

If they do go under, where are the Chinese companies going to steal their designs from now?

Still uncertain future, with the deadline for a decision now extended to the 19th June.
With no one big buyer for the whole company in one go, the receivers are now looking for at least 500 employees and outside enthusiast investors for some sort of crowd-funding, public share offer system:
