Have a Mavic BB I'm thinking of using. Anyone advice on installation? Assume the BBs are good for a 68 or 70mm shell? Is there anywhere in the UK with the correct tool to chamfer the shell? Assume some places must have had it in the past...

Assuming its the 651 threadless BB? Shell requires 45 degree chamfers machined either end. Had one done by Dauphin Sport many years ago when it was run by Tony Mills, but shop went bust and has passed through 2 owners since so unlikely they've still got the tools.

I have one. I've found the cutter, but only one of the washers so far! It's designed to fit a standard (e.g. Campag) facing tool, and I think it would be usable without the washers.

Let me know if you'd like it; as it's for you (given the services you render by making this website available), I don't want anything for it.

I've got the Schlumpf version, does the same job:

Free loan if interested..

All the best,

This project fell by the wayside a little last year. However it just went back in the workstand tonight. As such would like to loan a tool if possible and if the offer still stands :D

Sure, no problem, John.

PM an address and I'll get it sent. I'll be on the Thetford ride, so it won't need posting back.

All the best,

Perhaps it goes without saying but use lots of cutting fluid, low spring presssure and cut slowly. You want the chamfered face to be no more than 2.5mm.
