mavic 550 hubs - anyone know of other replacement axles?

Come into possession of a mavic 550rd hub, but the axle is sheared.


Short of buying another hub for parts,or tracking down another axle, has anyone heard of suitable replacements?

I am the person who advised them the axles they have are model 500s , they would be SO much stronger in steel if that fine thread could be turned up IMO !

would the 500 axle fit on the 550? OLD is the same

no, the DS bearing is approx 1/4 inch further outboard on the 550 (like the road 130mm 501 and MTB 135mm 531 )

I actually bought a model 550 axle by mistake thinking it would fit my model 500 hub (with a broken axle) and it's still sitting here (in Australia) Matisse , if you cannot get one locally i will send it over but the postage price borders on ridiculous.

machining up a suitable spacer would convert that to a 500
