Airborne frame only - £275

McMahon Frameset kit (inc. forks, BB, Cranks, stem, headset, post and Fr+Rr brakes) - £750

All plus actual postage.

Hi Steve, I'm really impressed by your collection. I'm looking for a large titanium frame in size 20-21". The Airborne is 20" C-T, do you think it'll fit my 193 centimeters? The actual top tube length (25") is the same as my race bike XL Scott Spark.

A titan fram from the 90s would have been cool, but the Airborne's pretty nice.

Cheers,
Bjørn

Hi Bjørn

welcome to the forum,

In answer to your question - I'm 190cm and it's right size for me, so I'm guessing that if you had a 400mm seatpost, it would fit fine. And like you say, the top-tube is long enough for the taller rider.

feel free to ask, if you have any more questions... :)

Thanks, Steve!

I have a rigid carbon fork, it's a no name version of the Richey WCS for 80 mm. But as you say it can handle up to 100 mm, I assume this fork (1 1/:cool: will work.

What's the max tyre dimension? This is going to be used in winter, so my only concern is that Ice Spiker Pros in 2.1 should work.

Cheers,
Bjørn

I wouldn't like to comment on the fork question, as I'm not that clever..

but here's some pictures of the clearance with a 2.1 Panaracer...

Thanks again. Kind of a stupid question from me, I guess a regular 2.1 fits most MTB frames - even back to the 80s.. I tried my 2.4s yesterday, so I just mixed them up.

Anyway, just one more question: What's the story with Airborne not being as "high end" as the more renowned brands like Merlin, Lynskey, Titus and Litespeed? I understand Airborne started the production a bit later, I found some blog posts about the history of the brand. And some people claims that the welding isn't as good as on a Merlin or Litespeed. But discussions like these are very often based on emotions, not on facts... ;)

Cheers,
Bjorn
