Marzocchi Z5 air adjustment

Do any of you Retro gurus know how a fella can adjust the the travel on these forks? at the moment they are 100mm but I believe they can be also run at 80mm which would suit my Kili flyer frame better.

I believe that you just use a longer top-out spring, but surely you could run them with less preload (20mm further into their travel) to achieve the same result?

Give Windwave a shout ( tech@windwave.co.uk )- they can probably help you with this.

Without sounding thick how to I do that, The only adjustment I know of is via the air pressure or am I missing something.

thanks

You do this with the air pressure - with any given pressure the fork will sag until the air pressure in the fork balances your weight, therefore a lower pressure will reduce the ride height.

People tend to think that altering the air pressure changes the spring rate, but with air forks the spring rate and spring progressiveness is a function of extended and compressed free air volumes as well as air pressure.
The higher the oil level the more the air has to be compressed as the fork moves through its travel - if you find that running lower pressure to let the fork ride into its travel means that it blows through the midrange too easily, add oil 10ml at a time to get a more ramped up feel.
