Marzocchi Z2 Superfly restoration: FINISHED!!

Re: Marzocchi Z2 Superfly restoration???

Eh?

There is a two page parts list (very useful as it has the parts codes)

A modern high quality 15page doc with high quality exploded diagram at the end
The older Multilingual 25 page docs in a landscape format.
Also the extremely useful 97-00 Technical doc is on there for the Bombers with tuning tips setups and explanations.

I know they are there and all work as I put them there. (And just tested)

When it comes to seals and bushings though it's easier to follow the diagrams wrt seals o the two bottom left bomber instructions here. http://www.enduroforkseals.com/id10.html

There are also quitena few threads on the forum on bomber service and a few additional on superfly.

Re:

I'll have a another look when i got more time, the manual i posted looks pretty thorough but every little helps. Id like new seals and bushings because i dont know the service history of the forks, but it looks like these could easilly turn out more expensive than anticipated

Cheers

Re: Marzocchi Z2 Superfly restoration???

Just use as they are for now with freshoil and a cleanup?
Seal set is about 20quid. Bushings similar and getting harder to find.
Seems they have finally stopped supporting bombers.

Re:

That was the initial plan, just to use them with fresh oil if they seem to work okay but part of me thinks i may as well go all out if im working on them anyway. It Makes no sense if bomber parts are no longer available, im sure theres still plenty call for them :?

Re: Marzocchi Z2 Superfly restoration???

Need to be 30mm bombers.

The ukbikestore are the ones but seem expensive (compared to what I remember buying sets for a few years back) but if anywhere has them they do.

Service seals and bushings only if needed no point ruining something that may he good.
Bushings are large so you should be able to look down the fork with a torch at them.
It's only the cost of a bit more oil if you do it at a later date.

Seals seem easier to get hold of as there is always the endurosels ones too
Normal e.g. http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/produ ... t_Seal_Kit

Re: Marzocchi Z2 Superfly restoration???

They are in a terrible state - would be worried about all that oxidisation.

I have some nice ones I don't want a huge amount for. Let me know if you are interested.

This is the badly scored up surface left behind by the wire drill heads, looks like i got my work cut out

£3.98's worth of wilkinson's finest quality sandpaper :D

I got 40grit, 100grit, 150grit of 'functional sandpaper' and 120grit,180grit, 400grit of wet and dry paper

Re:

You'll want to start on the 400... then get some 800, and at least 1200 before you painting
