Marzocchi Z2 Superfly restoration: FINISHED!!

Re: Marzocchi Z2 Superfly restoration???

Nah, you've done the hassle-y stuff already. Just don't be afraid to give it some elbow and it'll come out no bother.

I have the seal tool. Can lend it to you if you want it.

Re: Marzocchi Z2 Superfly restoration???

Socket set with flat side down for the oil seat seal (or waste pipe)

Socket set with normal way around, or waste pipe for the dust seal.

Bushing doesn't look damaged from that view. Does the oil seal feel rough on the top lip ?

The seal/bushing is exactly the same for all the other 30mm bombers if every you come across them.

nope, both oil seals seem really good condition

Re:

Right then....

The circlips came out easy with a small kitchen knife, the seals needed a bit of force but with a long screw driver also came out nice and easy

One pair of bushings, are these worth replacing while i am changing the the seals?

Re: Marzocchi Z2 Superfly restoration???

You don't NEED the seating tool, but it is designed specifically to do the job. As fluffy says, you can make use of other tools lying around if you wish. It's your decision! And yes, I'm in UK.

Re bushing, check condition of stanchions where they would interface with the bushing for wear. Same for the inside of the bushing itself. If nothing obvious then I wouldn't worry about changing at this stage if it was me. 30mm Marz bushings are getting pretty rare so I would hold on to what you have for as long as poss.

it might as well be done properly. If i could borrow your tool it would be appreciated. Shall i paypal you a few quid for the postage?

Re: Marzocchi Z2 Superfly restoration???

It's cool, will hopefully get away with a 'Large letter' stamp. PM your address and I'll get it off to you tomorrow.

Re:

Those bushings look fine to me.. :)

as long as there was no play between the stanchions and uppers when they where on the bike i would re-use them no bother..

just don't forget to line the slot in them with the air valve...

as it is a right pain if you forget.. not that i did that on one leg... no sir..
