Which were the top spec Marzocchi XC forks?
I know they did XC 500, XC 600 & XC700.....did this imply the XC700 were top of the range?

I think the higher number (400, 500, 600, etc,) depends on the year of production.

The higher the number the more recent the fork is and the longer the travel.

XC500, XC600 and XC700 have the same construction.
XC500 ist 4times adjustable, XC600/700 6times.

Other forks coming out in the later 90´s are XCR and DH3.
DH3 has 72mm travel, all other 51mm.

Excellent, thanks. Would I be right in thinking that the XCR and XC51 were cheaper versions of the XC500 etc? Were they all air/oil?

XC50/51

From my point of understand they where "earlier" version without adjustment. And yes: they also were air/oil forks.

End of XC series was 1996 (DH3 red or green - top DH model 77mm of travel, XC 700 silver or red - top XC model 50mm of travel with blocade, XCR - basic XC model, 50mm)
I remember yet 1995 XC 600 gold/champain (top model, fex. Team Giant use it in Grundig WC Series)

If someone need: in Marzocchi website You can find owner manuals to many forks from 1993 :)

Here an advertisement showing the red and green coloured 'zokes >>

I do like them :)

Some Marzocchi content can be found under this link and I think in Gallery 2 even a Starfork catalogue can be found.
