Marin Team Marin year?

I've had one of these knocking around the place for a while:

That's not my picture - just happened to find it on the web. Any idea what year it is? No canti hanger at the rear, so I'm assuming it's post-'96.

I think you may well be correct in thinking it is post 96.

I've got an early one 94/5 and they only came in silver or titanium of course.

That looks like a 1999 Marin to me.

I would guess that's a 98. I have the 97 catalogue picture, which shows it as blue/grey (can't show it here I'm afraid, as not an allowed extension). The spec sheet says it had a Manitou Mach 5 fork etc, so as that's a 97 LX chainset and the fork looks like a 97/98 SX I'd say it was a year later.

Is that blue sticker on the seat tube a Tange Prestige Concept sticker? And does the price tag say £430?

Thanks all. I've just had a quick shufti at the BB shell, and among the bewildering array of codes there appears "9708". My similar Bear Valley has "9705", so perhaps these were built in '97 for the '98 model year.

Just plain Prestige.

And does the price tag say £430?

Looks like it, eh? £430 and 20". That's £21.50 an inch! Still, what can you get for £430 these days?

On the other hand, the '98 was "pearl white", while the '97 was "matte lime":

I'd always thought of it as "fluorescein snot", but I guess it might be matte lime after all...
