Marin Monocoque: a little sister for Team Marin

It wasn't what I was looking for now, but 2 weeks ago I lost the Marin of my life 1 day late and when I saw this I didn't think about it. I brought her home.
I was thinking of building a '97 Manitou Pro with a thread and an Atac stem that I have in silver... I don't have the size, damn it!
Well, I have another Pro ahead although I can't put cantilevers anymore... very fair.
Well then let's see if my faithful and beloved SX Ti... fair, but with an adequate steering and a finite stem, like Syntace, could still work. We would also have to make other decals (that will have to be done anyway) in red instead of blue and the SX Ti would look good.
Or maybe another way
Lots of doubts

When you have only the frame and no original parts ... it is the open world. Not easy to match everything.

Good luck. 👍 :)

Well that's madjh.
You already know that I have been deciding during these days how to approach the project.
In the end, since none of the forks I had were worth the size, a Manitou 4 or the Magnum seemed more beautiful to me. They are from '95 and the Monocoque from '96, but I don't think it's anything alarming. That it was Manitou I think is its thing and it has a certain consistency of dates. It is true that the technical differences between the magnum and the mach were already great when the oil cartridge was incorporated. But it seems to me that those machined aluminum blocks are very good with the aluminum of the frame.
After thoroughly cleaning all the liquefied MCU that had stuck to the walls and adapting the original Manitou elastomers (but not specific to this model) the fork runs smoothly.
The XT headset I had is a little high and I purchased an Onza Mongo. The truth is that it is very well made, it is pretty and I hope it fits the size (everything fits just right)
The truth is I was hesitant about what parts to assemble, but in the end I think a threaded headset and cantilevers system is what is going to work.

Ah that Mani 4 or marnung are quite nice, but I remember this one with the March 5 inlight grey like the Nail trail, not very sofisticated forks, mine is elastomers only and ... well they are hard. I works but not the best elastomers, they have many years.

The Mach 5 would be yours but that would almost force me to make it from a catalog.
On the other hand, they've only been around for a year and the magnum with those machined parts and its raw aluminum makes me like the whole thing more.
Speaking of aluminum... the frame has a lot of aluminum. Lot. And it is fatal, very scratched and scratched. It's costing me a lot of effort.
In the end I got results just before I went on vacation, it was already nighttime, but I didn't want to leave without leaving a polished face at least once. And that encourages me to continue, although I don't really give up easily either (thank goodness!) but it has been 2 weeks without seeing results, just sanding and polishing without achieving anything pretty.

And since I'm not going to make it from a catalog, I think that an Atac that has been in a forgotten box for many years is a good complement to the fork
I don't think I'll polish it, just deep clean it and replace the rusty screws. Simple and economical.
The decals are good on one side, on the other a little worse but complete and I hesitate to change them or respect the original. Honestly I like to respect the original whenever possible.

Well, I finished polishing and I have to say that it is gratifying to see it finished.
On the other hand, I really wanted to make some wheels with Araya RM-395 rims. A few years ago I found a new set in a beautiful black in a store, but when I went to pick them up they had sold one of the 2 units for the "lavish" price of €25... they had priced me at €50 each unit, €100 in total    . Anyway, the shopkeeper is clear that he was a person with some disorder. So I bought the one that was left and I still have it waiting for a sister to make the set.
But a complete set appeared in silver and I didn't think much about it: I think it is the right rim and in the right color.
Hubs...well why not some Pulstars? When they came out with their straight spoke system they were something very new and striking, like the monocoque frame.
