So this is for sale!
It's a 1993 Marin Eldridge Grade, I can't remember the frame size but it fits me well and I'm 6 foot.
Frame all original, including the obligatory missing letters on the top tube - although that can be easily fixed with some modern replacements if you wish. It also has the original fork, stem, bottle cage and seat clamp. I also added a load of red shiny bits to it with various bolts around the bike - in the sun it looks great!
XT thumbshifters along with XT cranks, XT front and XT rear mech - although the rear mech is straight it does need looking at and possibly replaced. Occasionally the chain skips on the rear casette - it may be that it needs a new chain or cassette and chainrings too, or just a bit of time adjusting. Brake levers are X-lite and the calipers are STX - which would be an easy thing to replace for some XT or XTR parts for not too much money.
The wheels have XT hubs (not from 1993 though) with Mavic 519 rims (with an Araya sticker). Some parts are new and not original retro including a saddle, Michelin XC tyres and some flat bars (I did have a set of riser bars on but these have now been taken off). I am sure whoever is lucky enough to own this bike from now on could do some great work with more original parts.
Condition is good. It does have some wear marks on the frame and paint chips on the stem and bottle cage which I've tried to show in the photos, but it was previously used off road as a mountain bike should be and it is 27 years old....
This is a great bit of nostalgia and a really fun bike to ride. A great starting point for a build using pure retro parts.
I'm based in Bath so ideally would prefer collection, although I could post if necessary. Could also meet you halfway if needed.
