Marin B17 swing arm removal

Hi all,

This is my Marin B17 from around 1997. It has a few issues and one is the paint which I want stripping back and painting again.

I'm unsure how to remove the swing arm. I can see the bearings and what looks like a long hollow shaft.

Do I press out the shaft out ? I have a hydraulic press and looks like it will fit a bike in,

I'm worried it's going to be solid with corrosion. I have a brazing touch for heating the surround metal carefully and applying light oil.

Once the shaft is removed do the bearings knock out? They seem OK but ideally should be replaced esp if I'm hitting it with heat... Not sure where I can buy those.

This is my 2nd bike I worked on so bit of a learning curve. I'm more used to car stuff.

Many thanks

Martin

yeah, just whack it out.
I used a homemade press to shove the bearings back in afterwards with no problem, but getting replacements shouldn't be too hard.
Did the same thing with my B17, its been a while but there might be some details in the linky in my sig if you want to take a look.
