Marin b-17 1999

There's a thread on here but as to value search eBay sold prices.

They come up quite often, about two hundred quid for the bike I'd say.

Re:

Yeah maybe for an original but I'm well well over the 200 mark paid nearly that just for the group set I have all my prices and total cost written down but unsure if insurance would accept that? Will have a look for post though would love to get valued

If you wanna recoup money then split. You will struggle to get money back on what you put in on builds.

I sold a orange dh version dh-frs? Version with maguras that was mint with xt groupset and struggled to get 190 quid.

Problem is with full suss is you can get a trance, trek fuel or similar for peanuts now in 26" wheel size that is ten years more modern and that makes retro full suss low value.

Re:

Oh no I didn't want to split I love it! Hopefully rides as well as it looks! Was just purely for insurance as has cost quite a lot to get it built/look how I wanted it still want a more modern lockout rear shock for it trying to find the balance of old a new to not look to obvious but do it justice! I just want to know if it did get stolen I wouldn't lose to much!

Re:

Thanks for posting Max, I have been debating what colour to PC my Marin and your photos have helped loads as I also have a white front fork. I like the look of your bike but I won't be copying you.

With regards suspension my view is go as modern as you can as the rewards are great, I went with a Fox CTD on the rear and a Marzocchi Corsa up front. I too am loving my Marin.

Re:

Hopefully should all be finished tomorrow will post nearly finished photos! Should just be beading a nice new rear shock other than that fully ready to use! First time in 16 years ish

But for insurance purposes speak to insurer. Should be like for like so might be more

If you keep reciepts to show what you spent that can help in case of claim (tricky I know). As you say finding like-for-like would be hard with a custom build and i feel your pain, but even minters go for sub £200 so you really need a good case to make a claim for more.

Loving the look BTW. I started witha dog ugly frame so PCed the lot, was thinking of green front and black swingarm but the boy decided for me in the end, black all over. Never thought about white BECAUSE I had seen original ones like that and wanted it to look different. Looks good tho!

Re:

Yeah I was quite lucky was searching for a while and that popped up brand new! Swingarm was used though and didn't like the red/white combination so wanted to get some colour schemes going on! Got a few more nice anodized red parts coming qr scewers and seat clamp grips so should all match hopefully! And yeah that's what I was worried about total finished price is around about £800 al in which I think is pretty good but not if it got stolen as A the thief wouldn't a clue what it was and what it cost B insurance wouldn't either spent many many hours on eBay looking for the right parts ha loved every minute though! Think this could be my hobby

Re:

Just been on the first ride! Loved it few tweaks with way cables are running but rides amazing for such an old frame! Let me know what you think of photos please!
