...what do people use for retro-fitting? I have seen the ones available from Suspension fork parts.com but Im sure I heard something about an upgrader type kit that was available a while back, anyone know anything about it or am I losing it...?

Sods law that Marin Man was a Manitou specialist and has gone now of all times...! just my luck.

Thats the puppies! One firm set ordered. Perfect. I'm just a bit (far) too heavy to be messing with elastomers let alone 17 year old ones!

Cheers!

When they're in and bouncing - can you post up a review?

Have thought of getting these for my mach5sx fork......

Cheers M.

I think MM is back.

Only advice I have is don't get the springs, turned into a pogo stick and keep an eye on the 'bay - NOS elastomer kits do come up from time to time. Also I have cut/drilled a set f later elastomers and they worked fine.

Yes, but only on the early undamped elastomer only forks, later oil damped ones should be fine.

Carl.

Awww man, they're to go in a Mani 3 :facepalm:

Still, it's pretty much going to be a sunny day rider so performance shouldn't be too much of an issue, saying that I was a bit concerned as I was ordering them about them being the only parts in there? Maybe there's sone sort of mod I can do to stop it being too bad. Here's hoping.

I'm sure they'll be fine - lets face it any suspension fork pre Z1's are pretty rubbish at doing damped stiction free suspension movement anyway ;)

We only have them as we're sentimental fools and think they look great :D

Absolutely right! Plus in my defence I didn't get the normal springs, I got the ones with a bottom-out damper type spring? So I'm hoping they won't be awful but I'm sure for the amount of use they'll get (not lots!) they'll be fine.

So there's no company who makes new elastomers for retro forks? I need a pair for my manitou 2, and somehow I thougt I saw new ones (not NOS) somewhere (ebay?). Maybee I was hoping to see them...

EDIT;
i think I just answered my own question...

I would go for elastomers instead of steel springs. I think you can combine stuff too. If I remember correctly Marin Man is using 1 spring and elastomers for his retro manitou fork(s?)
