Magura ~ Timeline and history...?

The first Magura hydraulic rim brakes came out in the spring of 1987. I have been trying to get a good set up on them ever since. :cry:

Does anyone know what Magura brakes were available in 1991? Got a build going on and some '91 Magura brakes would be nice.

I have a set of the black Hydrostop brakes (HS22?), the ones which has the blue decals. I Assume they would have been available at that time?

What about the HS22 Race line (flouro yellow)? The ones with longer Levers and no red TPA adjuster, I had some on a bike in '93/94, but when were they first available?

Thread on here somewhere about the dates of the different models.

And yes, the Hydro-stops were around in '90/91. They also did a yellow version with cut out bar clamps on the levers.

It happens one of my German colleagues had a lot to do with these brakes back in the day. Asked him if he could recall how things went. Back then he was working for the marketing division and wrenching for top teams equipped with the then all black Magura Hydrostop brakes. They worked like hell but where extremely expensive to produce and spectators did not recognise aftersales when it came available.
His idea was to paint these sponsored brakes in fluorescent colours yellow and bright red to get more attraction. This worked very well and soon the original aftersales components where introduced in both colours too. Sales exploded despite the difficult setup of the first callipers and flimsy clamp around the bar. Improvements came over the years and different colours where introduced. Branding was in those days not automated, decals have been added by hand by housewives in Baden Württemberg for years until it was machine stamped. Different models like HS11, 22 and 33 but basic was always the same calliper. When the disc brake became more popular the HS lost its momentum but is still one of Magura’s bestsellers.

Thank you - very interesting. Does your colleague have any info/stories on the rare HS66 drop bar Maguras as I have a set on my touring bike.
 
Having never tried Magura rim brakes I am now more than a bit curious about them, particularly as I have a set waiting to find the right bike
Awesome power you'll either love them or take them off soon. Some people say they are like an on/off switch but put some new decent pads in if the existing ones look aged, rock hard old pads won't help the feel.
