Magura hydaulic rim brakes - To buy or not to buy?

I very recently bought this Cinder Cone and converted it to single speed. I thought I'd pretty much got it completed, but my neighbour has offered me some magura hydraulic rim brakes (the yellow ones) for 30 quid!

What does anyone think? Worth it? :?

If there is nowt wrong with your canti brakes then I would stay with them.

Magura brakes are very good but can be a faf to set up.

If you do buy them QR adapters are essential for quick removal/fitting of wheels.

On the plus side once bled and working they go on forever

If they're in good condition they'd be a bargain!. Personaly I like to keep my single speeds as simple/basic as possible, however you could buy them off your neighbour then sell them to me

30 quid is a bargain for them !

they are not too much bother to set up at all

awesome brakes once all working (they are german so will last forever?)

bleeding is a piece of pee too

There's nothing NOT to like about these brakes.

Better feel than V.s. Lower maintenance in the long run. Pad replacement an absolute doddle.

Anyone telling you not to buy them wants them for themselves!

Thanks for your input guys. I haven't seen them yet, but I reckon I'll probably buy them based on what you've all said (even if I don't end up putting them on this bike)

I'd definitely be buying them...

Like you said, even if you don't use them on the Kona (which I don't think you should, as it looks lovely as it is ), you'll find something that you'll be able to use them on sooner or later.

run them on all my bikes (save the bike thats about to be), well worth it IMO

Magura's are great rim brakes (especially the HS33 Racelines), not so sure they'd suit that bike tho'
