I'm a numpty, I do have those, it'd just been that long since I took a proper look at the calipers. Have tried repositioning but it didn't seem to make much difference

Be careful with the mounting bracket, when you try loosening that silver "hook". Those brackets brake easily! Do NOT use them as a lever!

I broke two of them...
And it was the same situation. Stuck hook thingie. I now use an adjustable spanner to hold the part. Or the vice with soft jaws.

Oh man. Just got back from work, and had a go while the brake was mounted, it moved pretty easily, I'd not been able to make it budge when it was off the bike
