Two questions- how far is it, and are there any watering holes along the way?

Might be dragging one or two others along, retro of mentality if not of bike..

There are no watering holes along the way, shops etc in Newtongrange not in Temple.
Distance 8 ish miles but numerous diversions from basic route plus some short scary (to me at least) DH bits for you mental types to session. The object of the exercise is just a wee off road dander in Midlothian countryside.

Just done a wee reconoiter of the start end bit at Newtongrange as that was the main bit I was iffy on. All good and there is a good pub near the end called the Sun Inn with a beer garden. Also for those who knew him as I did the Retrobiker known as Kaya, now deceased is represented in Newtongrange at Kaya's Cafe, coincidence but fitting
