Using the Carerra frame donated by TK, sus forks, a bmx handlebar etc I have created a frankenbike but its still not right. Getting the bars higher than the seat isn't easy when your legs are too long
I've disc brake converted it TK so I could fit a 24" disc hubbed rear wheel and do the same thing without beating the merd out of it
I do have a more thought out cunning bike build plan though which might work. The Muddyfox fitted with Marzocchi Bombers using the 1" steerer I bought at the Drum, a old school 22.2mm BMX quill stem and a MX pit bike handlebar should give me a short high front end that is still reasonably retro.
Alternative plan is source an old 24-25" tourer that has clearance for at least a 700c x 38 tyre. Tourers have shortish top tubes which with some high rise bars and short stem could produce a half decent off roader with a sit up nand beg riding position.
I think it is time you started to save the pennies and build up a custom frame fund, might cost a bit but a one off purchase for life made just for you.
Thats the plan TK but funds are increasingly tight these days. I hope to have a Strangelove if Si's enterprise takes off. Problem is my idea of my perfect bike might be so odd that no bike builder with a reputation to uphold would touch the project with a barge pole. I however feel I shouldn't have to compromise for the builders sake, I want what I want, not what they think I should have
I'm up for Skye not to ride but im more than happy to guard camp and do some good walking on the cullins
need a lift of course and have a spare tent for 2 over and above my own mk2
Its a mk3 CNX extended fly so tons of room for 1 or even 2 with a weekends worth of kit
You guys havent seen this one
