Its easy to calculate but you need at least one bottom bracket if you can't find a size on the web.

Basically fit a BB with the correct shell width(harder but not impossible with the wrongun)

Fit cranks

Measure middle ring to middle of seat tube

ideally this size should be 47.5mm though if you have thicker tubes up to 50mm is fine.

now get your size, lets say its 45mm, this means you need to move the chainset out 2.5mm. So you need a BB with a 5mm longer axle than you have fitted.

100 or 113 does seem a good start, the difference of 1.5mm in chainline will not be too much of a problem.

Ive had this for about 5 weeks now, visit to the Doc's I think :?

Did get out on the road bike later, did a fast 45 miles then back home into the bath then I heard the rain come on, nice timing :)

.

Needless to say I havent been to the Doc's, now Im wheezing like a 50 something year old asmatic in the mornings and evenings :?

Started building the beat up old carerra frame I got off the Ken at the drum for nowt (my favourite price). Unfortunately just like in my now departed Topanga which I got free off Eck the BB has been put in back to front and thus is cross threaded on both sides. Why are some folk so STUPID
On the positive side, theres plenty life left in the BB so I'll not think of changing it yet. Other than that the frames quite well built and thus if I can make it comfortable to ride, its a 19" which is very small for me, it might go to the Peaks meet if only as a counterpoint to all the nice high end kit everyone else will bring
I do however have numerous more sensible alternatives including a late.....ish 90's CB Spirit frame winging its way through the post. The Spirit dates from the period I actually was into mtb's BITD as opposed to all the stuff I actually own from the time I was into motorbikes instead

never go to the splash page but noticed kaiser on there and he is doing a good job of looking like a proper mountain biker  bike looks cool.
