Who is going to 10 under the Ben this weekend? What are you riding?

As far as i know only Radek is going, i'm just not motivated (or fit) enough riding wise for it this year.

For the spray laquer i've always used Halfords spray cans, they're not cheap but the spray is fine and consistent.

I've sprayed my Clunker project frame, still to do the forks and bars though, BUT will also be spraying the Orange E3 which will probably be rideable before the Clunker, would be a better idea to bring that on the day than just a painted up frame.

BB will be fine masked up, painted my Clockwork with the headset cups still in with no problems.

It's more the damage I'll do to the new paint removing it I am bothered about, 2 hours with a big "dremel" the other night took out about 1/4 of it, when through 2 carborundrum discs and broke 4 others knocking them sides ways :roll: I love hardened steel, even the center sleeve is made of it and it is around 3 mm thick, a few more hours to go I reckon.

Looking for some modern rubber for the usual scottish xc stuff, like the panaracer xcfires but want to try summit else, what do you recommend?

yup , they're front /back specific bit i've ran 2 fronts and 2 rears before (if you see what i mean)
2 rears is best tho if you cant get a pair
really great in loamy soil woodsy stuff ,i run them at 45/50 psi ,cos i cant be arsed with flats , makes them fast on the roads

Kenda Nevegals are great all rounders, especially the Stick-Es, but not sure they're significantly different from XC Fires. I keep coming back to them though. Draggy, predictable and cheap.

I'm liking the Schwalbe Racing Ralph on the front of the Mary with Bonty XR on the back, but definitely a summer, dry weather / trail centre tyre combo only (although they coped really well up at Skye).

Probably worth posting a 'What tyre for riding over Killie Pies?' thread over on STW, they'll take you through all the 14,000 different variants of Maxxis.

I agree with Mikee, WTB Raptors are great tyres

Quite fond of Continentals MTB Kings or similar, good all rounder gnarlyness work well at either end.

cheers velo- went for a set of Kenda Nevegals from wiggle mainly as they had some good reviews and I have wiggle vouchers so will let you know how I get on- love the wtb's I have on another bike albeit they are not raptors- they seem to make some good rubber.
