MacRetro chat and rides thread

As the weekend appears over the horizon i start to think where can I ride my bike and I scan the maps and surf the net for inspiration. Latest area to catch my eye is the Kilpatrick Hills, imediately west of Mugdock. From internet forums i've gathered there is potentially good riding in this area with paths, tracks etc and of course hills. Do any of you guys have experience of riding there, it might be somewhere to think about for a future mini meet ;)

I've got a free pass for the whole weekend and it's been so long since I've had one of those that I'm paralysed with indecision. Can't decide between off-road, roadie, or even walking.

I've not done any of the Stanes in the south-west so they may feature somewhere in the plans, but wouldn't mind some bigger mountain stuff if inspiration strikes.

Rode them way back in the 90's with the Glasgow MTB club, definetely good riding from what i can remember, could nip out there and suss it out in the next few weeks, it's about 20 minutes from my hoose :)

Remember doing a ride with a mate (also early 90's) starting at the end of the Erskine bridge, hell of a climb starting from there though.

I'm dropping off a Kona frame to Eck on Sunday so does anyone fancy a wee bit of mtb in West Lothian. There has got to be a wee bit of trail somewhere other than the bings ;)

Could any of these be what your talking about I posted this a wee while ago.

Aprils issue of WHAT MOUNTAIN BIKE is worth getting.

HUGE : Ride Guide (The Tweed Valley) 3 routes.

Route 1 : Peebles, Glentress, Innerleithen, Carron Forest, combo
33 miles.

Route 2 : Innerleithen area
6.5 miles.

Route 3 : Northwards out of Innerleithen
13.5 miles.

All looks pretty natural going by the maps and photos.

that'd be good if you could do a reconaisance Jimi, itd be good if some decent riding around Glasgow could be found, as Glasgows a good hub for meets involving as many Retrobikers as possible. Easy transport links etc ;) [/quote]
