Took delivery of my 92 Kona Fire Mountain and chucked on some forks, seatpost and wheels to get an idea of its looks. Must admit it looks quite modern, Kona were ahead of their time back in the early 90's. Unfortunately numerous wee anoyances to sort as per usual such as 26.2 or 26.4 seatpost which are no longer common so off we search for a shim. Previous owner fitted a splined ISIS BB which require yet another tool to remove and tyre clearance is toward the narrower end so dig out the 1.95's again. I think it'll ride pretty good though :D

firstly well done for buying the kona :D :D :D :D :D

i have a 25.0 to 26.4 shim and a 26.4 post but the post is quite short

and as for the bb , put a 5 pence peice in the crank hole then just use a normal bb removal tool ;)

ISIS BB I have is not Shimano, it needs an 8 pronged removal tool but they only cost £7. I'll need a 350-400 mm seatpost so I'll go shim route with a 25.4mm seatpost I have.

Finally the Z3's, I am confused, I thought they were in the possesion of Big Eck. Is there no point me selling stuff to you lot as you pass them around and then give them back :?

On that note, Kaiser, have you decided to keep the 180mm cranks or not

Been snowing here for 12 hours non stop. Probably best you guys decided to postpone Laggan :D

Had to put the Landrover back together to get to Tescos

Funny thing is only five miles along the road there's barely any snow at all. Daughter staying at pals house this weekend says it been pi$$ing down all day :?

Aprils issue of WHAT MOUNTAIN BIKE is worth getting.

HUGE : Ride Guide (The Tweed Valley) 3 routes.

Route 1 : Peebles, Glentress, Innerleithen, Carron Forest, combo :D
33 miles.

Route 2 : Innerleithen area :)
6.5 miles.

Route 3 : Northwards out of Innerleithen ;)
13.5 miles.

All looks pretty natural going by the maps and photos.

will have a look at that the morra Rob.

Roadie question, was out tonight for a wee run on the gazelle and noticed that the brakes were the other way round (compared to Mt Bikes) rear on the right.... is this normal? I didn't put the brakes on originally and remember kaiser saying summit about the folks from across the pond setting their mt bike brakes up in this fashion?

Some BMX types set their brakes up the american way as well. I hate it, goes against every instinct I've had since the age of 5.

okay dokay will live with it until that elusive set of suntour superbe levers come up and then I'll switch- tha tape is to nice to cut off just yet, and anyway if I grab a handful of front brake by mistake it will make bugger all difference as they are at best awful and dread to think what they will be like in the wet
