Another ting with roadie chainsets is the Q factor which is designed for skinny road bike chainstays. Not saying crank X won't work but acheiving chain line and chainstay clearance could be a headache. Does that frame have a press in BB?

I used to have a concept mtb frame with an 8 speed mtb cassette and a single chainring on an old road crankset.
No problems in chainline
Unfortunately i cant remember the size of axle i was using,but im sure it would have been 122.5 or something like that

Yes it has, axle is quiet short though, 115mm or something. I've tested with m730 double ring cranks and was fine. If Ziggy want to run with this spindle options are quiet limited.
