You can avoid the first half of the really tough climb. When you reach the section of timber road where the black route branches off to the left and works its way round to the vantage point at the bottom of the climb, you stay on the timber road, climb untill you meet the tough climb at its halfway point.

I know some of what I'm saying seems confusing but ZZ should know what I mean ;)

There is no shame in pushing the bike in sections, retro bikers are not in our first flush of youth. The veiws at various points though are fantastic.

Black route is old school and keeps folk out and about for longer, more of an epic ride. Just dont do the redemption descent as the climb out is a right barsteward, shortcut along timber road to next section ;)

on that colour, black, but I like to play safe, I like the angryness of the red but it reminds me of John and Dr S's Fats
