thanks found it - may need to wait a week or 2 then, fresh snow on top of ice.... he wanted to do the red again, then spend the rest of the day in the freeride park...

wow, start of spooky wood climb is looking a lot nastier than it was when I did it a couple of weeks ago. And considering Spooky itself was effectively unrideable then, shudder to think what it's like now.

Might want to avoid Saturday 6th - demo day at Glentress, parking will be nasty.

ok modern advice needed- was giving the splatter some TLC this evening and noticed that the rear wheel was needing an overhaul (was not spinning to well) which is fine as I am pretty sure I know what I'm doing there but also found the BB was very sticky (explains my lack of climbing prowess of late)

it is one of these modern hollowtech jobbies, I can take it apart (tools at the ready)but know next to nowt about the workings of this beastie, can I just replace the bearings and how much do these usually cost?

Hi Gaz
Once the BB's apart you can grease the bearings similar to normal. Just think of it as the spindle being different not the bearings. Once its apart you will see clearly. Its a much easier/simpler system

nice one- thought I might need to replace the lot, will take it apart the morra- you still snowed in, my boys were disappointed not to meet another of my "weird" pals (remember they have meet kaiser and jimi already :twisted: )

Gaz depending what model it is - it's usually cheaper to replace the cups and bearings together than buy new ones. you usually see cheap ones at CRC and I happily fitted a road one from superstars with SKS bearings to my mtb - the only difference seems to be the width of the center dirt sheild.

Got three bloorays from lovefilm today, National treasure 2 , The mummy3(?) with jet li, and heroes season 3 disc 1 . Wifies at yooni tonight too. Could sit and polish the Azonic watchin summat.
