MacRetro chat and rides thread

Question

Can I ask a question???????
As your aware Im new to the forum and what Ive noticed is there seems to be two schools of thought. 1. The guys who have bikes that a cleaner that they came out of the shop and that are kept on the mantelpiece. 2. The other guys who just ride the ass of their bikes. Am I just reading this wrong? Your views please.

fair comment Rob, however most folk, even those with loads of garage queens, seem to ride to some extent- even if it is on more modern bikes. I started out as a rider but have been drawn to the dark side of NOS

totally wrong but your such a nice guy velo you can say owt I don't care :D

mmmmm that reminds me, must polish my spokes

Dont worry RM, takes alot to upset MacRetro folk and the observation is true but thats the same for the entirety of Retrobike UK, diversity, dont you just love it :D

no Rob it is kind of wrong but that is what's so good about it :D

mind you I don't buy into the ethos that if you collect functional things you must use them- you can cherish great artworks and no-one cares if you keep it preserved as it was originally. Beautiful functional things can be admired and collected and I consider them as art, after all "all art is useless" to paraphrase a intelligent fella.

 HEAVEEEEEE

Stranger than that, there are those who belong to both schools of thought.

I'm pretty sure if you search, you'll find several threads in chat - no surprise that this topic comes up every so often. I'm definitely not the best placed to comment, but I prefer riding and I'm not a big fan of ornaments. I can see why folks do the whole 'garage queen' thing, but it's not for me.

And to think I will never see Gazz's lovely Fat Chance without the aid of a computer :( And it is lovely btw, I think I may actually prefer it to the Yo.
