MacRetro chat and rides thread

I'm a motorcyclist as well but with a shameful track record

I've never owned anything over 350cc, have owned an MZ, currently have a Jap scooter and just sold a Reliant Robin

Do have a hankering for a BSA Bantam but cannot afford a decent one. No technical expertise so rebuilding a heap is completely out

Haven't thrown a leg over a bike in 14 years. Used to commute to Edinburgh on a trusty but less than exciting Honda Revere :D Actually that's not fair, it was quite a sweet handling bike for being a sensible commuter.

Two or 3 times a year I'll start looking at bikes, but it's a difficult purchase for me to justify. That or I'm just an auld fearty cat now :?

Which Buell have you got? I remember a few Fast Bikes articles BITD and liking the looks of them, weird rear shock position and huge air box excepted ;) Get some pics up!

Which Buell have you got? Thought you'd never ask ;)

I love Buells, also like big Italian bikes but I'm never going to own one, nae cash and too feared like ZigZag.

Stick to my memories of BITD two stroking.

Cagiva Mito 125 unrestricted would be for me, 7 gears, nae comfort and a narrow power band. Mind you still like the underpowered BSA Bantam idea

TDR and RD, SWEET :D

RGV far too much bike for me but mind blowingly good

Remember sitting at some lights when an RGV rolled up beside me. Before I'd started moving it was across the junction and gone. By the time I'd crossed the junction it was a dot on the horizon, really impressive.

I like how you have the banana swing arm version. I just love how the pipes come under it with those fantastic expansion chambers.

I did own a Suzuki X7, when it worked it was blindingly good but it seldom did work. Fuel feed problems, a dodgy clutch etc made its function very hit and miss. The big clouds of blue grey smoke were also less than environmentally sound

Just ordered a disc convertor from SuperCycles and will be seeking a short travel (probably suntour) fork with disc mounts for the Alpinestars. Finally going to get a vaguely modern set up for trail centre fun
Velo - I've got the old fork off my GT Avalanche if you're interested. 100mm travel, coil/spring, getting a bit 'sticky', but still usable. I'll bring it through tomorrow and you can give it an eyeball if you like.
