MacRetro chat and rides thread

snowflake- pretty and strong, pretty and dangerous, ugly and strong or ugly and dangerous?

I thing pretty and kinda strong enough but don't really have any experience with them....

I'll have a look tonight for rims gazz and mind i have a set of snowflakes that i use , there no worse than normal wheels btw .

I've used them for over a year with no problems (and thats saying something for me)

:D

Cool that's good to hear, have heard reports of them being weaker and some of them being stronger :? Got a front one last night and remember lusting after one bitd will be interesting to see if it looks hot or not.

No rush on the rims as I'm ok for wheels but I do have some nice xt hubs that are in need of rims at one point down the line.

Do you want me to bring the forks tomorrow or save that for another day eck?

Velo you still want to purchase the yellow yeti grips? I can bring them along with the pedals you wanted, indeed please remind me folks of the other karma stuff you claimed as I haven't a hope finding it on this mega thread.

Polishing question for the massive... XT crankset for the Stumpy and the lacquer has begun to lift, shoe rub probably. Anyway, it look's pretty ugly:

So I'm as well to remove the rest of the lacquer and polish them up. I've tried brillo pads, combined with Autosol as well as some light sandpapering (think it was 1200grit). Neither seemed to make any impact on the lacquer. Do I need to get a bit more aggressive with the sandpaper. Or do I want to try something like oven cleaner? Would like to avoid lifting the black 'Shimano' paint if possible.

Suggestions?

Dead easy, took me 2 min.

Give them to kaiser, he does summit with them and the look great- jobs a good un. And don't worry about the black paint, rub a perm. Marker over it and wipe off the excess, needs to be reaplied periodically but a 30 sec job.

Start with 400 grade then repeat with 600 and then 1200 wet or dry. Finally polish with Meguires NXT Metal Polysh. fantastic stuff that leaves a protective coating. Smells alright too. Brings em up to a show standard shine.
