MacRetro chat and rides thread

does anyone know why vintage road pedals have a smaller spindle "spanner bit" compared to mountain bike- feckin annoying

sound of penny dropping - some rat catchers might be in order. I got it from the chap who runs that bike recycling outfit in Killie, I might go down tomorrow and see if there is any retro gold ;)

Retro road stuffs often less standardised than mtb kit. There are subtle or large differences between kit dependent on nation of manufacture or influence of said nation. I have found in the past that the Uk's or US's definition of a 1" headset can be annoyingly different to the Italians or the French and dont get me started on bottom brackets

They've sometimes got those nice sprung steel toeclips of French origin in the Bike station, want me to source some :?:

yeah will do, gave it a small polish and it should come up a treat (is in great nick), it is a weird looking saddle, made of leather branded "royal" which I might just keep, the kalloy post might be the only thing to get the bullet. I had a wee run round the estate and it is very quick, mind I did have gusts of up to 25mph wind to aid my progress (had my broccoli curry last night)

that would be very kind and yeah if you see some give me a shout, will try my local recycle place tomorrow and see what I can find. BTW are all these older calliper brakes very relaxed- I was having to plan well in advance
