MacRetro chat and rides thread

Dont worry Kaiser we just run it like a meet we normally pull off.
Everybody rendevous on the day at a start time say 1pm on a Saturday to allow for folk travelling on the day. We set off on say two guided rides, one lot tackles the red route and the free ride park, another takes on the black route. Usual rules apply on both runs ie lots of banter, frequent stops etc just a general get to know you sesh and GT familiarisation.

Then everbody heads back to where they're staying, clean up, seek food, there is a rather good and large indian restaurant in Peebles then head for an earmarked pub for beer and banter before turning in for the night.

Sunday morning we take them back to Glentress for some secret single track and an event such as a DH down some old school trail as yet to be worked out but there are some promising bits from the radiomast to the valley floor.

We do not need to get anything closed off specific for us as we're ultimately just enjoying GT although will inform the bike wardens we're about. Emphasis on fun not on too serious competetiveness.

Mid afternoon prize giving stuffed into a corner of the Hub Cafe then everyone heads home.

First aid needed just in case someone crashes more seriously than usual and the bike wardens can be sought out if its a problem as they're well trained first aid types.

We are not organising a big serious meet just a structured get together :D

Just a thought on the Bothy rides you guys... Just because you have found a large bothy don't have too big a group, Bothy decorum is to keep the numbers around 5-6 in a group. Could you imagine slogging miles over the hills, soaking wet with kit to find the bothy full with hairy MacRetro bikers and no room at the Inn?? It won't do the biker vs walker relations any good.

Si

Too true, i was giving an indication of total capacity though more in confirmation there should be room for RB attendees plus normal folk. Some of these places are affy wee - this one's a decent size with 2 fires.

Always chancy with boffys as they aren't bookable so an element of risk, although knowing location and depending on time of year, things should work out ok. This one isn't in that popular an area so should be ok, unless we go over xmas/new year - which is unlikely. ;)

Now there's an idea

Still smarting from the BAT by the way

Ye'll get nae sympathy aboot here  When you get hit by an eagle let us know.

Mr P are you a member of the MBA?
