MacRetro chat and rides thread

A bothy trip might be a good one for an event to get bods from south of the border out with us. The powers that be want each area group to come up with three organised runs in 2010. So oor Highland/lowland games at GT would be one and a bothy trip could be another. Also looks like inter group rivalry will be encouraged so Ecurie MacRetro is approved, hows that coming along by the way ?

Whats 10 under the Ben by the way ?

3 weeks to AGM Xmas Bash, 3 weeks till 40 for me

10 hour team race thang, try and get the most laps in in 10 hours and my guess is there is a ben involved and we are under it. Really like the idea of this and this could be our 3rd event?

:D succinctly put Gazzo. teams can be solo, pairs, triples and quads. There is a series of events you can find on the no fuss website.

The Ecurie Macretro thing was backburnered because nobody wanted to race anymore, big downers after Keilder.

I reckon the bothy trip should stay inhouse IMO. As DrS rightly pointed out limited numbers works best when visiting a Bothy.

without poo pooing the idea 3 events is pushing it IMO, We've been doing this for 1.5 years and correct me if I'm wrong but we've only had DrS and alpwilli.

The AEC's have started chatting on our own forum page you guys cannot see. At least three AEC's are really up for coming north to our territory and dragging some of their lot with them before or after the midge storm.

The way I see it a big super organised meet need only happen once. The other two can merely be well advertised normal rides open to all comers. Should no one show other than us then thats their loss. A bothy run advertised would likely as not fail to attract anyone much but as the bothy Mr P checked out could hold 16 that could easily cope with us plus a few Englanders. We could have a bothy run with a specified number of places to keep numbers controlled. Nothings stopping us having a hush hush MacRetro Bothy run as well.

As for Ecurie MacRetro I vote we get on with that, we will have a presence hopefully at least, at an SS event, This 10 under the Ben would be another and MM10 if we ever get round to that. We just pick events within our comfort zone.

Further the idea of getting the Retrobike roadies involved more. We could organise our own wee Sportif or a day tour of some area. The four Abbeys in the borders is a classic loop with great scenery for example. Mr P, Jamie Dyer, the Ken, Kaiser and Me have a foot in the roady camp after all.

All this stuffs only as serious as we're prepared to make it but we can do some good stuff ;)
