Quick question- can you run a 7 speed cassette on a 9 speed freehub with a bunch of spacers or would that be a mental idea?

I think you can get a spacer :? I'd post on the main forum or have a look round SJS cycles.

Yes, just use some single speed spacers behind the cassette.

This ones for Si, I've joined the RSF (acronym sounds like a Northern Irish paramilitary outfit ) so he need no longer be ashamed except of course would he want to be a member of an organisation I belonged to
