Now I can't figure out how to keep the cantis as I can't fit a hanger on the aheadset? Does it matter now that I've fecked it all up with the bombers so just put v's on and be done? I hate old bikes
Can you no slap one of these on? It's got a wee clamp, so should stay put.

Yeah that could just work, need to be a deep drop to get the cable round and down, will put out a wanted request- cheers zz more positive than the K Meister

 I'm positive you can't do it

Jim nice kit  from those two it'd be the coda's for me CNC that puppy up

Thought at first jim you were offering up stuff in a karma stylee

I'd go r7 but with silver spider and rings just to be difficult, I don't like ano in the main. Nice wheels should look nice on the mani and from a functional point of view avid brakes all day long- got a set of single digit 7's for £40 from CRC on the yo and they are the dogs.

No BOTM entry from me, gazz will the Univega be ready?

Not at the rate I'm going, keep changing the goalposts! Was going to be a spanking complete lx groupset now with suss need v's and levers and shifters all gone to piss  will be ready next spring at this rate. If I'd kept it old school rigid i'd of got a few votes maybe, the bastardisation plans now afoot would set me up for a eurovision points tally I suspect

I don't doubt you oh wise one.

Don't forget to check the main calendar in the rides section before sorting a date guys. I keep reminding all the separate area groups to do this but as you will see there are several comedy clashes.
There will be a 2010 main events listing going up in the next few days. If there is anything you want adding let me know.

Velo, its time to put on your AEC hat and sort your hairy rabble out

Si, I think the AEC job is to co-ordinate an event and for this we need an event. I refuse to be the only person who comes up with ideas especially as often any suggestion I make will be poo poo'd. The MacRetro membership needs to get off the fence and decide what they'd like to do and when they'd like to do it.

Guys give me a style of event you want such as trail centre or old school trails, give me a location you want it to happen and and give me a time of year you want it to occur ?

Sometimes I think my membership are more interested in building bikes than riding them based on the chat on this thread.

HQ seem to want each area to come up with a couple of events but realistically Kaisers probably right we should just focus on one. That said there is little evidence from the past 18 months that anyone other than Si will cross the border to join us thus making a mockery of the whole national event idea

Please guys, thinking caps on, serious suggestions needed from all group members, not just a flippant comment before another in depth discussion on the merits of polished alloy versus anodised :?

By the by, an entirely polished alloy bike right down to every component is going to look a bit too 2D like a black'n'white photo. Stick some tasteful wee bits of anodised stuff on to make it stand out a bit more ;)

Here's a suggestion for a 2010 meet.

Innerleithen has the XC trail as you know but it also has a recognised old school circular route that heads out over Minch moor in a southward direction I believe.

Thus at one venue we could have a old school ride and a trail centre muck about. Traquair which is nearby also has its own Brewery

If you want a big event with a big draw you have to think big my friend. look at the Peaks meet and Mountain Mayhem- some folk did 600mile round trips for them.
Look for something epic, something that captures the imagination and gives people something to get excited about. Plan ahead, give plenty of notice.

I liked the idea of the Highland games you guys talked of.

Put on a weekend event somewhere below the central belt that can be got at by the southerners. Promote it to death (something that will become easier this year as the Area framework is strengthened) and they will come!

We had around 30 for the Big Weekender and indications are that we will have nearer 50 next year. Once an event gets established and word spreads that good fun was had, it will grow.

Go for it Velo. You can do anything. You are a smart guy after all!

Si

btw the vega looks hard as f**k with the bombers on, you better watch out when I get her finished cause she will batter your bikes ESP. That gayer gt, pray it gets sold! Anyone got an entry into BOTM this month?
Ooooh, he's got a bike that he can nickname the 'uni-bomber' and suddenly he thinks its all that... Bah, its pink cables will be quivering at the first serious bit of downhill. And I'll take my sticky OEM Suntour forks over a pair of silky smoov bombers any day... Funnily enough, I was seriously thinking about enid's Junior Ts (for about 5 minutes). Maybe a tad heavy for XC though  Still thinking about a nice light pair of modern air 140mm though.

Question for ya: Do the Bombers have disc mounts?
