You shouldn't of been sitting around your house you should have been out devising an interesting and technical XC circuit of the surrounding area to entice your MacRetro buddies out for a ride some weekend. This weekend I'm going to try and do just that, loads of trails at the back of Loanhead etc ;)

there really isnt anywhere out this way velo , apart from the canal and bings.......

hey we could all take shots on my dh'er , that'd be a good day

I bet there is something if you explore a bit, get an OS map out and check out arial photos on Google earth. The amount of bits of trail I've found round here in the last couple of years is quite a bit. Think I might search your area as a challenge :D

Ive updated the page one post and thought I'd post the calendar here too. Not a bad year(ish) riding

Trumpton 6th of June
Dalby 6+7th of June
Glentress 5thJuly
Arran 2nd August
Raleigh Pentlands 16th August
Glentrool Big ride 3rd Sept
Innerleithen 12th September
Octoberfest 10th October
NWA Ride 21st November
MacRetro Xmas/Velo's Burfday 5th December

See Big Eck, if you look you will find. From arial photography, I can see loads of old bings and quarries, areas of waste ground, wooded area etc. all just crying out to be explored and linked into a back yard trail.

I think each of us should devise a backyard trail circuit that starts from our doorstep, does not need a car and tries to avoid too much tarmac. Then on quieter times in our busy rides calender we can all go try out someones local back yard trail :D

.........and my latest ebay purchase (drum roll please)........................................2 x Singer 29K industrial sewing machine cowhide leather drive belts

We have an industrial 1940's or earlier sewing machine at work for making animal harnesses etc and we cannot get the bits. I having lots of ebay practice found new drive belts and snapped them up. Say what you like but before ebay how did we get by :D

Also have since found a supplier of new hardware for the machine on the web also, smashing :D

Next bike bit will be fat 2.3" wide tyres, Trumpton proved to me that max grip is a godsend
